the jpeg could soon be dead, with the coming of a new format that’s trying to be standardized, HD. the only real adavantage to HD is the photo takes a lot less of a hit when compressed. this means smaller sizes with better picture quality. microsoft is really pushing to make this the standard format.
jpeg is doing its job just fine. but i guess smaller sized with a better quality is pretty hard to pass up. i would imagine it would be really hard to make it the standard format though, with all the jpeg that are around
