cardiff university in the uk told upwards of 20,000 students that they were blacklisting a lot of bittorrent sites. they said they were doing this to protect themselves from the rise in copyright infringment lawsuites. they blocked over 20 of the most visted sites on the campus. the earlier stated that students should stop using other means of filesharing such as Limewire.
I can understand where the school is coming from on this. THey’re just trying to save themselves from a huge lawsuit, and probably save the stundent from one too.

Just a small innacuracy here: that email wasn’t mailed to the public, just to Local Computer Representatives (hi there).
